Misadventures
Description:
Director Scott Corbett of Identity, in collaboration with West Coast agency Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners, just released an amusing :30 web film promoting Lucas Arts' latest video game, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.Misadventures features a cast of Indiana Jones wannabes fooling around in suburban homes and backyards, decked out in sloppier versions of the action hero's trademark brown fedora, leather jacket, and whip. The hardcore Indy fans appear in turn, each engaged in a home-brewed Indy-esque misadventure: mobbed by spiders in a dimly lit kitchen, covered in snakes in an ankle-deep kiddie pool, lying crushed beneath a boulder that has just been launched from a makeshift wooden ramp, or shot in the neck with a poisonous dart from someone pathetically dressed as an aborigine.
"Butler Shine was incredibly collaborative," stated Corbett. "The creatives gave me plenty of room to do my thing. They shared my view about the best comedy coming from real-life situations, and that the spot be a believable representation of what die-hard Indy imitators would act like. We had a collective vision from the start which was critical under our tight time constraints."
"Scott was really able to push the subtle humor," noted Identity Founder and Executive Producer Joe Masi. "We knew he would do a solid job and creating the perfect balance between believability and outrageousness, and he did just that."
The spot, which was shot on 35mm is slated for the Lucas Arts site (www.lucasarts.com/games/indianajones/) as well as other viral arenas.
